Review of Fire Works Pizza in Leesburg, VA

It was the day after Christmas, and my parents agreed to babysit for us so that we could enjoy dinner.  Instead of going somewhere fancy, we decided to check out one of the highest-rated pizza joints in the area.  With 4.5 stars on Yelp, we figured it would not disappoint.

We pulled up to Fire Works, which is located in downtown Leesburg.  The place was packed!  The parking lot was completely full, but we were able to find street parking close by.  I'm not sure if it was due to it being a holiday or if it's always like this.

We ended up waiting about 40 minutes before getting a table.  That gave us plenty of time to browse the menu and watch other people's food come out.

For our pizzas, we decided to go with the Quattro Carni and the White and Spice.  We were torn on which appetizer to get and followed the waiter's recommendation of the spinach dip.

The spinach dip came out really quickly.  I slapped some on the pita-type bread that it came with, and it was AMAZING!  The dip was really creamy and melted in my mouth.  My wife commented that it was probably the best spinach dip she had, and I agreed.  I highly recommend it.

The pizzas came out pretty shortly after.  I went for the White and Spice first.  It was good overall - the cheese was quality and the pizza tasted clean.  However, it was pretty lacking in the flavor department.  Could have used a little more spice with that white.

For the finale, I bit into the Quattro Carni.  The menu had advertised that the pepperoni was nitrate free, and that they get their ingredients from local growers and producers.  The "four meats" on the pizza were definitely good - fresh and clean as advertised.

This is definitely one of the best pizza places in Virginia.  Probably a solid #2 after Pupatella in Arlington.  I wouldn't make any more special trips for this, but it will probably become my go-to lunch spot whenever I'm in Leesburg.  I give it a 4 out of 5.
